How to Use the Race Pace Calculator

Our race pace calculator helps you plan your race strategy by breaking down your target time into mile and kilometer splits. Here's how to use it:

Step 1: Select Your Race Distance

Choose from popular race distances:

  • 5K - 3.1 miles
  • 10K - 6.2 miles
  • 20K - 12.4 miles
  • Half Marathon - 13.1 miles
  • Full Marathon - 26.2 miles

Need a different distance? Click the "Don't see your distance? Enter it manually here" button to input any custom distance in kilometers.

Step 2: Enter Your Time

Input your target or actual race time in the format HH:MM:SS (hours:minutes:seconds).

Examples:

  • For a 1 hour 30 minute race: 01:30:00
  • For a 45 minute race: 45:00
  • For a 3 hour 45 minute marathon: 03:45:00

Step 3: Generate Your Splits

Click the "Generate Splits" button to calculate your pace breakdown. You'll see:

  • Mile Splits - Cumulative times at each mile marker
  • Kilometer Splits - Cumulative times at each kilometer marker
  • Average Pace - Your per-mile and per-kilometer pace

Step 4: Copy and Share
